Department of Science of Living, Preksha Meditation & Yoga
The Department of Science of Living, Preksha Meditation and Yoga was established in 1991 as a core department of Jain Vishva Bharati Institute with the aim to promote and provide the traditional knowledge of India’s rich heritage and to provide the courses, that also helping development of personality and enhancing the career prospect of the students undertaking the courses. Courses are designed on the basis of behavioral and therapeutic approaches of Yoga, Meditation and Naturopathy systems through the synthesis of spirituality and science.
The aim of the department is to impart theoretical as well as practical knowledge of Science of Living, Preksha Meditation, Yoga, Ayurveda, Alternative Therapy Systems, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Psychology and Philosophy, so that one can achieve physical fitness, dynamic personality, mental equilibrium and spiritual bliss along with the skills to treat human being suffering from various psychosomatic disorders. Preksha Meditation, which is practical methodology of Science of Living, has been used as a new dimension of health management, helps in promoting the physical and mental health as well as in personality development. The Department also provides the platform to the scholars for conducting scientific researches on Yoga and Meditation. The three dimensions of the multifaceted activity of the department are- Teaching, Research and Training.
FACILITIES AVAILABLE IN THE DEPARTMENT:
ØAppropriate infrastructure facilities for Yoga and Meditation practices.
ØTwo separate laboratories of Physiology and Psychology, well equipped with modern computerized EEG, NCV, ECG and EMG machines, Semi Auto Analyzer, Bio-feedback machines, 8 Channel Polyrite, Computerized Respiro-meter etc. as well as psychological tools, tests and instruments to assess and analyze the physiological and psychological effects of Yoga and Meditation on different aspects of human behavior.

ØTo propagate the knowledge of Science of Living, a multidimensional system of education, based on Indian Philosophy and Culture.
ØTo explain the benefits of the application of Preksha Meditation scientifically.
ØTo carry out scientific researches on the therapeutic application/effects of Yoga and Preksha Meditation.
ØTo impart training of Science of Living in the field of Education and Corporate Sectors.

A.Pass out students get the eligibility to become:
1.Lecturer/Assistant Professor in colleges/Universities.
2.Yoga Teacher/Instructor in educational institutions.
3.Yoga consultant in hospitals, hotels, rehabilitation centres, industries and corporate sectors.
B.For pass out students job opportunities are there in India and Abroad. Several Alumni are working in the countries like China, Hongkong, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Japan, UK, USA etc.

•Two UGC sponsored Major Research Projects conducted by the faculty of the Department in 2001 and 2006.
•One ICPR sponsored research project conducted by the faculty of Department in 2007.
•One Pilot Research Project on "Managing Diabetes through Meditation and Magnet Therapy" conducted by faculty of the Department in 2013.
Memorandum of Understanding
•Three MOUs (one with an International Institution and two with National Institutions) have been signed by the Department for multi disciplinary research, faculty and student exchange programme.
•Thirty Seven (37) candidates have been awarded Ph.D. degree and one candidate have been awarded D.Lit. from the Department.
